Own a Paw Retreat Franchise
Turn a love of dogs into a business you are proud of. Paw Retreat is bringing its boarding, daycare, and grooming model to new communities, with hands-on training from the people who built it.
Pet Care Is Not a Trend. It’s a Standing Appointment.
Families don’t stop needing care for their dogs. They travel, they work long work days, they move, they bring home a puppy that needs socializing. That demand shows up every week, in every town.
The numbers back it up. The American Pet Products Association put total U.S. pet industry spending at $158 billion in 2025. The category covering boarding, grooming, training, pet sitting, walking, and insurance reached $14.3 billion and grew roughly 8 percent that year, more than double the industry’s overall growth rate. APPA projects $165 billion in total spending for 2026, with that services category reaching $14.9 billion.
Pet owners are not only spending more; they are asking for more: a place that knows their dog by name, keeps them safe, and tells them the truth about how the day went.
That’s the business Paw Retreat is in.
“Our mission has always been to provide the highest standard of pet care while giving pet parents complete peace of mind. Every dog has a personality, a routine, and a family that loves them. We take that responsibility seriously every single day.”
A Model That Has Already Been Tested Again and Again
Paw Retreat didn’t start on a whiteboard. Jennifer Abraham left a corporate career in Houston and opened her first location in Salado, Texas in 2009. She has run it ever since, through a recession, pandemic, and an expansion into a larger purpose-built facility in 2019.
Everything the franchise teaches came out of that building: how to evaluate a new dog, how to group a play yard, how to schedule groomers against boarding peaks, how to talk to an anxious owner at pickup.
These aren’t theories. They are the daily habits of a business that has kept its clients for years, and for years to come.
Everything a Pet Family Needs, Under One Roof
Paw Retreat is built to serve the same dog in more than one way. Daycare brings families in every week and builds the relationship. Boarding carries the holidays and vacation season. Grooming runs steadily year-round and fills the calendar in between. Retail adds margin at the front desk.
Dog Daycare
Full-day and half-day. Every new dog is evaluated before joining a group, then placed by size, temperament, and play style.
Overnight Boarding
Short stays and long ones, with the same staff the dog already knows from daycare.
Full Grooming
Breed-appropriate cuts, bathing, shedding treatments, nail grinding, and teeth brushing.
Seasonal and Add-on Services
Extras that let a family upgrade a visit without leaving the building.
Retail
Food, treats, and supplies at pickup.
Learn It Where It Actually Happens
New franchise owners train hands-on at the franchisor’s location, in a working facility with real dogs and real clients.
Training covers:
- Company services and how each one is delivered
- Sales procedures and client intake
- Compliance and safety standards
- Billing and bookkeeping
- Marketing and advertising
- Day-to-day operations
Is This For You?
The best Paw Retreat owners aren’t necessarily people who have run a kennel before. They are people who:
- Genuinely like animals and are comfortable around them
- Care about customer service and want to be known in their community
- Want to run the business, not just fund it
- Are willing to follow a proven system rather than reinvent one
- Meet the financial requirements to open and operate a location
Prior pet care experience helps, but it’s not required. The training is built to fill the gaps.
