Getting Started

Start Here: Create Your Client Profile

Getting started begins with one step. The rest follows once your profile is set up.

  1. Create your client profile

Set up your account in the client portal, upload your pet’s vaccination records, and sign your client forms. The account and forms are a one-time setup; vaccination records just need to stay current.

Once your profile is set up, your details are in the system and you are ready to book.

    Create your account

Rather not do it online? We can set up your account and complete your records with you at the front desk — just call (254) 947-3647.

Once you’re set up, come back and request your appointment.

  2. Request your appointment

Tell us your dates and what your pet needs using our appointment request form.

  3. We confirm with you

A member of our team will contact you to confirm availability and the details of your pet’s visit.

Tell Us About Them

What We Want to Know About Your Pet

The more we understand, the better we can care for them. Please tell us about:

  • Their normal feeding schedule and preferred food

  • Medications and administration instructions

  • Health concerns, allergies, or physical limitations

  • Their comfort around dogs, cats, and unfamiliar people

  • Triggers, fears, or behaviors we should know about

  • How they communicate when stressed or overstimulated

  • Favorite activities and the type of affection they enjoy

  • Anything that helps them settle into a new environment

Honest information never gets a pet “in trouble.” It helps us select safer, more comfortable care.

Boarding

Arrival and Departure

The same windows apply to both arrival and departure. When a pet checks out by 10 AM, the final boarding day is complimentary.

What to Bring

Food and Medication

Food

We prefer pets to bring their regular food. Staying on a familiar diet can reduce unnecessary digestive upset during a visit. Package meals individually when possible and label everything with your pet’s name.

If food is forgotten or runs out, Paw Retreat can provide NutriSource Chicken & Rice for a per-meal charge. Please contact the Salado team for the current amount.

Medication

Our trained staff can administer many routine medications for $1 per administration. Medication must arrive in its original container with accurate instructions.

Contact us before booking if your pet has complex medical needs so we can determine whether our team can safely accommodate them.

Peace of Mind

Safety and Overnight Monitoring

Team members are onsite from approximately 6:45 AM until 8 PM. The facility is protected outside staffed hours by 24-hour video surveillance and an alarm system.

In a medical emergency

If a medical emergency occurs, we contact the pet parent immediately. If we cannot reach the pet parent or listed emergency contact, Paw Retreat reserves the right to transport the pet to a veterinarian selected by our team so care is not unnecessarily delayed.

Questions

Common First-Visit Questions

Will I receive an update?

Every boarding client should receive at least one photo during their pet’s stay. You are also welcome to contact us for additional updates.

Can I tour the facility?

We are working on a virtual tour so you can see every part of the facility from home. We will share the details once it is ready. In-person visits are kept brief so we do not unsettle the dogs in our care, so the virtual tour will be the best way to look around.

What if my pet becomes ill before a grooming appointment?

Call us as early as possible, including the morning of the appointment if symptoms begin suddenly. No charge is applied when proper notice is provided for an ill pet.

Do you accept walk-in grooming appointments?

No. All grooming services, including nail grinds, are by appointment.
